Suds & Soles 5K will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 7:30pm in Rockville Town Center. The race is presented through a partnership of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club and the City of Rockville. The 5K Run is open to all ages and will be followed by a post race party in Courthouse Square. Adults will be able to sample beverages from local breweries as well as enjoy other post-race refreshments.
Proceeds from Suds & Soles will benefit the Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation and Youth and Beginning Running Programs of MCRRC.
Packet Pick Up
Pre-race packet pick-up will be held at Gordon Biersch in Rockville Town Center (200 East Middle Lane) on Thursday, June 20 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Race Day Packet Pick Up and Registration (if we are not sold out) will be held in Rockville Town Square beginning at 6:00pm.
Getting to the Race and Parking
Ample parking for the race is available in Town Center garages and the Rockville Metro parking lot. Remember parking at metro is no longer free on Saturdays so while the parking is still there, you will have to pay for it.
Where is everything? Need to know where stuff is once you get to the race? Try this map!
Bag check will be provided and will be located across the street from the Red Brick Courthouse (corner of Courthouse Square and Maryland Avenue). You must supply your own bag, labelled clearly with your bib number. In case you are wondering how to label your bag, check out this example of a well labelled bag, and this example of a not so great one (we aren’t even quite sure if this picture is right side up).
Bag check is provided as a courtesy to our participants – items are checked at your own risk and MCRRC assumes no responsibility for any valuables. Please claim your bags by 8:45pm. Unclaimed bags will be returned to MCRRC and donated if not claimed within 2 weeks.
Suds & Soles is a fast USATF certified 5K course beginning and ending in Rockville Town Center. The course will run through downtown Rockville and through neighborhood roads before returning to Courthouse Square. Participants who maintain a pace that is greater than 20 minutes per mile may be directed to the sidewalk and from that point on will be required to follow normal pedestrian rules. The course certification map is available here! SudsNSoles5K. Click here to view an elevation profile.
Suds & Soles will also feature a KidZone with activities designated only for children ages 10 and younger. The KidZone activities include a moon bounce, games, sports activities, bubbles, tattoos, popcorn, and ice pops. In addition, there will be a short Fun Run at 7:35pm. A bib is required for all children to enter the KidZone and participate in the Fun Run. Bibs must be worn by children entering the KidZone; bibs are $10 each for children ages 5 to 9, bibs are $5 for children ages 4 and under.
Again, registration is required for entry into the KidZone and participation in the Fun Run. Registration helps us to identify children as well to plan appropriately for food and activities both this year and for the future.
Parents must remain with their children while in the KidZone. Parents do not need to purchase a bib to enter the KidZone. (Bibs from the 5K event, worn by children ages 10 and younger, will be accepted for entry to the KidZone. You do not need to purchase another bib for them.)
Timing and Scoring
The 5K race will be scored with the Ipico Bib Chip which will be attached to the bib you receive at packet pick up registration. Results will be posted on this webpage and www.mcrrc.org approximately 24 hours after the race. Both “net” and “gun” times will be displayed.
Awards — If you think you might win an award, please stick around. Awards WILL NOT be mailed!
Awards to the top male and female finishers in both open and masters divisions as well as age group prizes!
